How Vision Boards Help You Achieve Your Dreams

Many of us have heard about vision boards, as well as things like manifesting and the Law of Attraction, but how does it all work? For starters, what is a vision board? Essentially, a vision board uses imagery such as drawings, cut-outs, and text to inspire and motivate you to work towards specific goals. In addition, it serves as an everyday reminder of your hopes, wishes, and dreams so that you may work and grow towards them. So, how do you know what to put on your vision board? Well, everyone’s vision board will be uniquely their own. For example, on mine, I have a few keywords related to being an entrepreneur, such as literally “Freelancer” and “Entrepreneur,” as well as “Freedom,” “Balance,” and “Boss B*tch.” Then for personal things, I have a photo of a castle that I’ve always wanted to visit, a quote that says “Always Do Your Best,” and a picture of my dream wedding ring (LOL). I also keep my vision board above my desk in my office, so it is something that I interact with each and every day, which helps me stay on track with my goals. So, today we will discuss how a vision board can help you achieve your dreams so that you may create your new, best self and live your best life.

Help Visualize Success

A vision board is basically like a visual journal for all of your goals. It is one space where all the things that are important to you and your future can come together – physically represented. You will want to add any words, phrases, or images that mean something to you or that you would like to emulate, achieve, or cross off your bucket list. Vision boards help you visualize success (whatever that may look like to you) because you place each of these items on the board with intention. Once you send out the signal to the universe that you are ready to receive everything you have ever hoped for, the universe can start aligning and delivering on these goals and wishes. Of course, dreams are never met without hard work; however, you can use things like The Law of Attraction in your favor. Basically, the Law of Attraction says that whatever you think about and focus on in your daily life, you will receive (there’s an excellent movie called The Secret all about mindset and the Law of Attraction that you should definitely check out). So, by putting down all of the positive things you are hoping to receive in life on your vision board, you are literally creating a roadmap for the universe to know what to send you. For example, the movie explains that if you only focus on the negative (being late for work, spilling your coffee on your new outfit), more negative will come to you (now you’re late, spilled your coffee, AND rear-ended somebody). But, if you focus on the positive (it’s a beautiful day, and I’m happy), then the universe will send you further positivity (someone notices your electric smile, and you make a new friend). Overall, taking the time to deliberately choose what goes on your vision board can help you visualize success over time, achieve a positive mindset, and mold yourself into your best version.

Align Your Mindset

One of the main things that a vision board does other than help you visualize success and open yourself up to receiving your desires is consistently aligning your mindset with your higher goals. In essence, a vision board constantly reminds you to think more positively and act out the dreams you are looking to achieve. This happens both consciously and subconsciously. Of course, if you sit in front of your vision board each day like me, it becomes hard to ignore it (not that you want to – in fact, it keeps me motivated). But, suppose you made a vision board and then put it away at the back of your closet. Well, it’s still working overtime by your dirty laundry to bring you the things you most desire. When you set the intention of wanting to work towards something, your brain will do all it can to align your mindset to achieve your goals. Therefore being deliberate about what you put on your vision board is crucial. Notice I don’t say that you must be realistic. If you ideally want a multi-million dollar mansion in Malibu, then that should absolutely go on your vision board. Add your biggest dreams and your smallest wishes to your vision board because you deserve to have all sizes of your goals and desires met. Just be ready when that expensive property opportunity presents itself, and you’re about to sign for the home of your dreams. By setting deliberate desires through your vision board, you signal to yourself and the world that you are ready to fire your old self to create your new self and receive everything you have been gearing towards in your life.

Set Goals And Review Them

Being deliberate means not just adding random things that you like to the board but truly thinking about what you want to accomplish and perhaps even set deadlines for them. By setting goals and reviewing them over time, you can measure your progress and motivate yourself for future success. Sometimes we forget to take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come. Whether our journey has been mental, physical, spiritual, (or a bit of all three), our vision boards help us reflect on our past selves so that we may push to become our best future selves. One of my favorite things about vision boards is that it’s not just words on a page like my journal. Don’t get me wrong, I love journaling, and there is a place in everyone’s life for journaling, in my opinion. Still, there’s something about visually getting to appreciate your innermost hopes and dreams that is really special. A vision board can almost feel vulnerable to create for these reasons, but remember it is there to keep you accountable and move you towards where you have told it you ideally want to be. Occasionally, it might be a good idea to review your goals and see if they need to be adjusted, altered, or perhaps removed completely. For example, once the ring is on my finger, I won’t need to be manifesting it through my vision board anymore. But, until then, it can stay right beside “Balance” and “Stronger Friendships.” Ultimately, vision boards can help you not only identify and set goals but manifest them and bring them to fruition so that you can become your best self and live your best life.

Final Thoughts

If it seems like we touched on a lot, that’s because it is a lot! Manifesting your goals and creating your dream life is a big deal – some might even call it life-changing. A vision board helps put ‘you’ back at the center of your life and can help you visualize success into reality. Your vision board is also working overtime to try and align your mind with its higher goals so you can reach your full potential and receive everything you are destined for. Lastly, you will need to consciously analyze your goals and adjust them if needed. While it’s great to reflect on how far you’ve come, it’s essential to hone in on your goals over time in order to reach them. Ultimately, vision boards are an excellent tool to help us achieve our dreams so that we may “Fire” our “Old Self” to create “Our NEW SELF” while remembering Life’s Short, Love the Life You Live!
