FireYourself.Co is an online magazine and movement focusing on the realization that life is short and we truly do need to “love the life we live”. The F.I.R.E. movement(FIRE being an acronym standing for: Financial Independence Retire Early) is something that I read about online and all I can remember is one thought…holy shit, this is my life to the tee!!! Everything I have ever done in life revolved around this movement. I am the true embodiment of what it means to want to Fire Yourself and Love the Life You Live, giving me complete and total control over my life. In order to love your life however, sometimes you have to “fire yourself” and create a new more outstanding you, hence the focus of this magazine.
This magazine is the unraveling of a remarkable life already in existence and one yet to come, both mine and yours! My attempt is to inspire, motivate, and create material in such a way that you too will want to Fire Yourself and concentrate on the main premise of the movement: Life’s Short, Love the Life you Live! The main focus of this magazine is three key topics, topics that I have focused on and believe me Fired Myself more then once. The main topics for the Fire Yourself magazine and movement are: money, health, and mindset.
My father, my biggest hero in life, worked a corporate job for over twenty years. At the age of 55, through sound financial planning and investing, he was able to retire. I still remember the celebration like it was yesterday and he constantly reminds me that it truly was the best decision he has ever made and he has no regrets in leaving corporate America.
My whole life has been a culmination of preparing to live this lifestyle. At the age of 23 I graduated from college and moved to Orlando, Florida for a year, where fortunately for me, I lived work free! One whole year in the mecca of the tourist industry…Orlando! To this day it is still my favorite destination to visit because of the fun and excitement of not only Disney World, but all the other wonderful culture and cuisine…not to mention the warm Florida weather. Please don’t misunderstand though, I never took that life and what my parents did for me for granted. It was through hard work and dedication on my fathers part that allowed me to do this.
At a very young age, I believe that I subconsciously decided to Fire Myself and take the road less worked so to speak. I have never been a physical labor kind of guy. Some people have it in them, I however do not. It’s actually quite comical to watch me sometimes when I have a hammer and nail or any construction tool in my hand for that matter because it is truly apparent that I have no idea what I’m doing. I tell my family all the time, the neighbors are probably watching and laughing their asses off! Some people have the gift of construction and some don’t, I do not and to be perfectly honest, I’m ok with that because physical labor and I don’t get along very well!
I was gifted with other talents, talents that require my voice and as my father taught me, a good firm hand shake. My co-worker and good friend who will be a contributing author to this magazine told me one time, Ron, you are one of only two people that I know that can meet a person for the first time and know within five minutes who they are and what they stand for. It’s true, I have that uncanny ability to read a person fairly quickly and in my line of work, sales, that is vitally important. It has been one of the main skills to project me to success in my field. It is that skill that I hope takes me on to a new found success as I publish and edit an online magazine. As you will quickly and easily see, not all articles will be written by me, but all will be edited by me. I hope to embrace my title as “Editor-in-Chief” and “Founder” whole heartedly and not disappoint in the quality of the content.
It is also the objective of this magazine to spotlight those that have embraced the Fire Yourself lifestyle. If you or someone you know has achieved freedom in every sense of the word I encourage you to contact us, or click on the link on our homepage, to answer our questionnaire so that we may write an article on you or the person you know. Movement, as defined by Webster’s dictionary in part 2, is defined as a series of organized activities working toward an objective(also: an organized effort to promote or attain an end). The end here, well there really is no end because time is the only commodity that we have that is limitless and that we can not lose. It’s how we use that time that determines where this movement takes us. Let’s move forward…remembering the past, embracing the present, and looking forward to a future in which we will “Fire Ourselves” and always remember, “Life’s Short, Love the Life You Live!”
